Round Rock Karate Academy presents

Tai Chi for Life

Reintroducing the body to the mind…

The main focus is on reacquainting the body and mind and getting them to “shake hands”. Numerous recent studies from Emory University, Tufts and published articles in the New England Journal of Medicine have shown the value of tai chi for improvement of such conditions as arthritis, diabetes, poor balance, loss of strength and bone mass, fibromyalgia and even Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. Students have experienced marked improvement in some of these areas and are very happy with what they are learning for improvement of everyday fitness and mental stimulation, i.e. an improved quality of life. No special equipment needed.

The Tai Chi for Life Level One Course will include:

  • Simple warm-ups and range of motion exercises
  • Basic tai chi postures and movement
  • Standing stationary breathing sequences: Chi-Kung (Qi-gong)
  • Emphasis on proper body alignment
  • Breathing and energy management
  • History and philosophy of Yang-style Tai Chi
